Ender's first month!

Because Jody and Zach live too far away, we took Ender to Portrait Innovations last Sunday for his one month pictures!  My sister found them and they are really great.  They are creative, reasonably priced, and we got our pictures within 15 minutes!  The only downside is that they cannot touch up pictures (Ender's face totally broke out the day before).  They
also gave us the pictures on CD, so I thought I would share them with you all.  Enjoy!!

Does that sheep look familiar?

Our newest addition!

On August 16 at 8:44 am, Randy and I welcomed a little baby boy.  His name is Ender Allen Straughen.  He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19.75 inches long.  The trip to the hospital was more stressful than the delivery itself due to the Woodward Dream Cruise!  My water broke around 8:00 on Friday night and we got to the hospital around 11.  The doctor decided to induce me because I was not dilating, but my water had broken and they didn't want us to get an infection.  I was induced around 1 am and they upped the dosage at 6.  By 8:00 I was ready to push, and then Ender was born 45 minutes later!  We both had a fever when he was born and they put us on antibiotics, so don't be freaked out by the pictures with his IV.  He is absolutely beautiful and we are so incredibly in love with him.  It's hard to believe he is three weeks old already; life has been crazy (Nicole gave me a kick in the pants to get this blog done).  All of our friends and family have been so supportive and generous bringing lots of dinners and gifts!  We are so grateful for all the help.  Here are some pictures of our little peanut:

I can't believe it's July already!!!!

Man oh man time flies.  Last time I wrote, we had just gotten our first ultrasound done.  Now, I am 3 weeks from my due date!  I am actually in the hospital right now, though not for the baby.  What started as a simple 24 hour IV antibiotic to fight an infected cyst (on Tuesday) has turned into minor surgery and I won't be getting out of here until Saturday.  Craziness.  The baby is fine, though, and not affected at all.  The more I find out about babies and pregnancy, the more in awe of God I become.

My sister Andrea gave birth to her son on Saturday, July 5th.  His name is Jacob Paul and he was 9 pounds, 22 inches, and has red hair!  He is absolutely gorgeous!

Here are some highlights from our year so far:

In April, Randy and I took a "last hurrah" vacation.  We took a road trip down to Florida to visit Pat Gregory and then went into Savannah, Georgia and finally to Cedartown, Georgia to visit my aunt and uncle.

Here is a more recent picture of me and the baby!  Randy and I are getting really excited and it definitely feels more and more real everyday.  The nursery is almost done (pictures to come), and we have been practicing our Lamaze breathing.  We also have our names picked out: Madison Marie and Ender Allen.  We are definitely nervous and a little scared, but super excited overall.

My last day of work is next Friday, and hopefully I will have two weeks to myself before I go into labor.  That way, I can get last minute stuff done with the nursery (I promise to post pictures) and just relax before Pip comes (that is Randy's nickname for the baby: person in progress)!!

I hope all of my friends out there are doing well and having a wonderful summer.  I have promised myself that I will update this page more once I stop working, so hold me to it!

2007

2007 was such a great year for us!  Randy was signed on for another year consulting for GM and working downtown, we bought a house in September, and on Christmas Day we announced to our families that we are expecting a baby!!!  Randy and I are super excited, and can't wait to meet the little peanut.  I am in my second trimester at 14 weeks and I'm due on August 9th.  Andrea, my sister, is also expecting (it will be their second child) and we are only a month apart!  Last Monday I had my first ultrasound, so check out the new babe.

We're in Escrow!!

Randy and I bought a house!  We found out last night that the sellers accepted our offer.  We are very excited and are hoping to move by September 22nd.  We will definitely have a housewarming so everyone can come check it out!  We are doing the inspection tomorrow evening, so I will post some pictures on Tuesday.  The link below is the listing ticket with all the specifics and some pictures.  It is 2,200 square feet, has 5 bedrooms, a 3 car garage, sits on almost a 1/2 acre, has a hot tub, a fireplace, huge master suite (HUGE) with a beautiful master bathroom.  It's just cool and unique and we love it!  Yay God!  Yay us!
